This creative writing workshop is designed for all levels of ability and interest.  Whether you’re looking to refine your craft or try creative writing for the first time, this course is designed for you.  Over the two weeks, students will experiment with three different genres: short fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction.  Students will read models for each genre, discuss what they can learn from these models, and then produce some of their own writing.  Through peer-to-peer feedback, the more traditional group workshop, and the instructors comments, students will receive various kinds of feedback as they move through the writing process.  After trying out each genre, students will select their favorite piece to be thoroughly revised and included in a course anthology.  In the final stage of the course, students will learn the basics of handmade books, and then each student will make their own copy of the course anthology to take home.  Thought his whole process, students will learn about the writing process, the value of a community of writers, and some introductory book-making practices so students are empowered to share their work with others.
